Work directly with Grimm’s Toys creator and author Taylor Hayden to learn a new creative skill, strengthen one you already have, or finally give that project you’ve been thinking about somewhere to go.
Taylor teaches across writing, illustration, sewing, and visual storytelling, allowing lessons to focus on one creative discipline or move between several depending on what you’re hoping to accomplish.

Looking to spend some dedicated time strengthening your drawing and illustration skills?
Book a private lesson with Grimm’s Toys instructor Nimet for focused, hands-on illustration instruction tailored to your current skill level and creative goals.
Lessons can explore drawing fundamentals, character illustration, expressions, figures, composition, color, visual storytelling, and developing confidence in your own artwork.

Small Group Lessons with Taylor
Bring your creative people.
Want to learn with a friend, sibling, partner, or small group?
Spend some time learning and making together while still getting personalized creative instruction. Groups can learn to sew, illustrate, write, develop characters, or work through a creative project together.
GROUP RATES
2 people — $200
3–4 people — $90 per person
5–6 people — $75 per person
In-home group lessons include an additional $50 travel and setup fee.
Package rates are also available for groups interested in ongoing lessons.
Small-group lessons are available for up to 6 people. Groups of 7 or more can explore our larger workshop and event options.
Working on Your Own Children's Book?
Sometimes you don’t need a traditional lesson. You need someone to sit down with you, look at the idea you’ve been carrying around, and help you figure out what comes next.
Work directly with Taylor to develop your children’s book through creative writing, character development, story structure, world-building, visual storytelling, storyboarding, illustration planning, and creative direction.
Whether you have a completed manuscript or three sentences written in your Notes app, we can start where you are.
Children’s book development is best suited for private instruction or intimate groups of 2–3 people so there is plenty of time to dig into each individual story.
For larger or ongoing projects, package rates are available.
