What ages is this program for?

This program is designed for students ages 7–13, grouped by skill level and age-appropriate instruction.

Does my child need sewing or drawing experience?

No prior experience is needed. We guide students step-by-step through every part of the creative process.

Is sewing safe for younger kids?

Yes. We use age-appropriate hand sewing techniques with close instructor supervision at all times.

What will my child leave with?

Each student completes a handmade plush character, a fully developed story, illustrated pages, and a finished printed book.

How large are the class sizes?

Class sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and support throughout the creative process.

Will parents be able to see their child’s work?

Yes. The program ends with a final showcase where parents are invited to view all finished books and artwork.

What should my child bring?

All materials are provided. Students only need to bring themselves and creativity.

Can my child attend if they miss a day?

Yes, we build flexibility into the program and help students catch up on missed work when possible.

Is this a drop-off program?

Yes. This is a structured drop-off creative studio environment led by instructors.

What does the final showcase include?

Families are invited to a celebratory art show where students present their plush characters and published books

Summer Creative Labs

4 Week Summer Intensive in the heart of Bishop Arts, Dallas, Texas

Design a character, bring it to life, and tell its story. Created for young artists, storytellers, and imaginative minds, this 4 week creative workshop invites students to sew an original plush character, develop its personality and world and create a fully illustrated storybook from start to finish. Hosted at Flocc Studio, each student leaves with a handmade plush, a professionally printed storybook and a collection of keepsakes celebrating their imagination and growth.

Taylor Alexandria Hayden
Lead Instructor | Writing, Textile Arts & Storyboarding
Writer, textile artist and the founder of Grimm's Toys. A graduate of The New School with a focus in American Literature and fiction writing, Taylor later continued studies in reading comprehension and youth literacy education. She works across a variety of editing fields, helping empower emerging writers to strengthen their voice and harness their creative potential.
